The reed screw (ligature) and reed together with the instrument and the mouthpiece have the largest influence on the sound and the responsiveness of the instrument. The characteristics and special features of the GF System reed screw (ligature) are as follows:

Each reed screw is like a tailor-made suit which is adapted to the various mouthpiece types and for that reason guarantees the optimum fit and the vibration behaviour of the clarinet or saxophone reed. This requires an extensive amount of different reed sizes with the aim to fulfil your needs. If not we also offer under the link "Service" the possibility of a purpose-built item.

Due to the cleverly worked-out mechanics (left- right screw thread of the spindle) on tightening the reed screw a symmetrical tensile force is exerted on the reed so that this remains in the set position and can vibrate in an optimum way. The safety ring on the screw thread of the mechanics prevents the mouthpiece becoming scratched when the reed screw is attached.

The reticule impressed on the strap ensures a much easier setup of the reed for the wind player and the symmetrical fit of the reed screw on the mouthpiece.

The various reed screw sizes are mostly available in 4 colour models and in this way they match the design of the instrument well. These models are the following:

Standard-BSS, Gold-Line-BGG, Silver-Line-SBB, White Line-WBB

The 4 colour models do not differ in sound!

On the inner side of the GF System strap you will find their reed screw size imprinted:

e.g.: GF-10M (size 10 medium, medium is marked)

S= Small, M=Medium, L=Large, XL=X Large

On the box you will find an adhesive label which shows you the exact contents of the package and the article number of the GF System reed screw (ligature).

With each reed screw we deliver the appropriate plastic cap which can also be purchased separately.
